The Leadership Seminar

The Fellows convened at JOFA’s offices for a full-day leadership seminar on October 31st. Highlights of the day included a conversation with Blu Greenberg, learning about future professional and lay leadership opportunities from a panel including Rabba Sara Hurwitz, and discussing anger and passion with JOFA’s president, Judy Heicklen.

As one fellow wrote in the post-seminar evaluation, “The seminar really changed the way I approach the idea of feminism and my community and I am really excited for this year and beyond!”

About the JOFA Campus Fellowship

The 2010-2011 academic year is the launch, pilot year for the JOFA Campus Fellowship. This year the program gives eight undergraduate Orthodox women across North America the opportunity to become leaders in their campus communities. JOFA Fellows participated in a cutting-edge leadership seminar.  The Fellows are working together with JOFA to plan and execute relevant and exciting programming for their campuses. The cohort of JOFA Fellows is forming a supportive network, empowering them to effect change in their campus communities and beyond.

The fellowship offers a stipend, JOFA’s financial and organizational assistance in running a program on the Fellow’s campus during the fall and spring semesters. Each JOFA Fellow is paired with a mentor from the JOFA Board. JOFA sees this as a mutually beneficial relationship, allowing the fellow to seek feedback and discuss challenges and ideas with her JOFA mentor and the JOFA mentor to gain insight into the next generation of Orthodox women.
